Rather than a standalone program, the Trellis Center’s behavioral support is woven into all of the Center’s programs.

This behavioral support and modification is based on Applied Behavior Analysis techniques and is continually maintained and developed by Trellis Center staff members with educational and experiential backgrounds in highly disruptive behavior. The programming further utilizes the knowledge of Wendy Williams, a Central Washington University Behavioral Psychology professor. This support program aims to replace disruptive behavior with more appropriate forms of communication utilizing de-escalation techniques, positive reinforcement of displays of preferred behavior both verbally and through reward programs, self-reflection/self-reporting, and communication support.
